Old Cell Phones make Great GPS for your Go Bags

You don't need cell service for the GPS in mobile phones to work.  You usually do need cell service to be able to access the maps, but if you download the base maps before hand you can avoid that too. We do a lot of hiking off the beaten path, and having a GPS device with us makes things much easier, and safer.  There are many GPS apps out there that will do the trick.  The one I like the best is Gaia GPS.  The app makes it very easy to download base maps ahead of time, which is key if...

Traveling with Small Children
